EEEAA Get The Link!

11.11 is a special day where singles get to meet. It is termed as “Singles’ Day” or “Bachelors’ Day” where friends took the opportunity to meet if they are not attached. This day is not as a taboo any more in this modern era and EEEAA took this opportunity to gather her single alumni in an informal social event for the first time. Preparation started 2 months ago and each member was excited to bring this event into action. It came at an opportune time that NTU Alumni House is opened and we selected Mortar Bar due to its ambience and suitability for our event.

The committee gathered at 7.00 pm to get things ready and participants started to come in at 7.15 pm. Many came in with much anticipation and questions as they entered our event. At first, we only saw a few familiar faces and every one held back. A drink for each participant and light snacks for each table helped to get all ready for an interesting evening.

The magic comes when the Human Bingo was played. Different cards were given to each participant and they were supposed to find the “owner” of the cell to create a straight line and BINGO! Cells with criteria such as “An Introvert”, “Loves Running”, “Have a Pet” were considered mild. Interesting ones were “Own a Property”, “Snore when Asleep” and “Have 3 or fewer Relationships”. Participants started to find out about each other within the table. When time was up, the gentlemen would move to another table and continue the process. Many were excited to have their cards “Bingo” fast and the room was filled with so much laughter even before the Human Bingo ended.

EEEAA called for an official end to the event but a continuation for social mingling to the floor. Participants stayed on to interact and get to know each other as the Mortar Bar live singing group started to play. As the participants were leaving, each of them was having a smile on their faces and many new numbers in their phones. Female participants were also given a bear and they were pleasantly surprised.

The organizers were glad to receive many positive feedbacks that participants enjoyed the place, activities and company. EEEAA gave a sigh of relief and celebrated an event well carried out as a first social “match-make” networking event.
