President Report 2018

In the 2016 EEE Alumni Association (EEEAA) Retreat, we identified 3 Values which we lived by – Service with Passion, Innovative & Fun and Unity with Trust.

This is my 9th year as the President of EEEAA and there are a group of core members of the Exco that demonstrated Service with Passion. There are many other Exco who have contributed over the years, some are not in the current committee & some have limited contribution due to busy work schedule. Nevertheless, they have contributed positively when they were active. Thank you, everyone, who have contributed in one way or another, big or small, and now or previously.

The Service with Passion Award for this year goes to Cheah Wai Soon, Khur Boon Kgim, Roderick Chia, Bhadhri Prasad, Ng Kah Meng, Ge Hailin, Arshad Kashif, Zhai Yao, Qian Hanhua, Gao Shiqi. I would like to take this opportunity to thank each and every one of them for providing leadership to EEEAA and contributing selflessly over the years to make EEE Alumni a more vibrant community. Special thanks also go to May Lim for going all out to support EEE Alumni events and projects. She is like Sunflower to us, full of hope & ever present. Another person I would like thank is Prof Chang Chip Hong who mentored me when I first took up the President role. His vision & strategy laid a strong foundation at the beginning of the revival years that continued to shape us today.

2018 is another year where we demonstrated Innovative & Fun through our first ever 2 Day 1 Night EEE Alumni Reunion, where we gathered more than 100 alumni and their family & friends to camp overnight by pitching tent & sleeping in sleeping bags in NTU Nanyang Auditorium Exhibition Hall. On top of the overnight camping, we also incorporated many first & exciting events such as Escape Room, Technology Seminars, Karaoke, Campus Tour by Telepod e-scooter at night and Scuba Tryout. We have never tried such activity before. In fact, as far as we know, no other Alumni Associations have done such activity before. Other successful event series in 2017-2018 was today’s AGM with Tiger Brewery Tour, Johor Durian Tour, E3Spirit Cup, ChillOut and Exco Retreat. Thank you to the respective event lead to make all these possible.

We continued to stick together & show Unity with Trust. The themes for 2017-2018 are Renew, Inspire, Connect & Harmonise. Through events & online engagement, we managed to Connect with our fellow Alumni and students. This election, we have also nominated a large number of first-timers to join the EEEAA Exco, with the hope of Harmonising & Inspiring the next generation of the leadership team in the EEEAA’s continuous Renewal process. We hope you will continue to support us and we will continue to be the Platform to Connect, Engage & Serve our Members, Creating a Lifelong & Worldwide Community of Alumni. Thank you.
